Custom District Elephant Mascot Sculpture
1. Project Background
In modern urban commercial districts, transforming digital brand IPs into tangible, high-impact landmarks is a proven strategy for driving foot traffic and enhancing community engagement. This project entails the physical realization of a custom, adorable “Baby Elephant” mascot sculpture tailored for high-traffic street blocks and commercial plazas.
The engineering process strictly preserves the cute, youthful characteristics of the original IP. Beginning with a 3D scan of the design manuscript, the proportions are scaled 1:1 using foam prototypes to refine the curved elephant ears, custom pink cheeks, and welcoming waving gesture. The color scheme features a light blue and off-white color partition that strictly aligns with the official IP profile.
To ensure longevity and visual appeal in an outdoor street setting, a layered fiberglass (FRP) finish is applied. The main light blue body is coated in a premium high-gloss automotive baking paint to replicate a high-end vinyl toy texture. Meanwhile, the pink cheeks and rounded paws use a hand-painted matte topcoat to enhance contrast and resist fading from frequent public touching. The base is treated with a specialized scratch-resistant red gloss paint to withstand urban wear and tear while providing a striking color contrast. Standing at an optimized height, the sculpture naturally blends into commercial district backdrops (such as European-style architecture) and serves as an interactive, highly photogenic photo-spot for pedestrians.
2. Project Timeline
The total estimated timeline for execution is 5 to 7 weeks from initial design approval to final site delivery:
-
Phase 1: 3D Digital Scanning & Proportion Scaling (7 days)
-
High-precision 3D scanning of the original design manuscript, digital scaling to physical dimensions, and adjusting proportions for structural integrity.
-
-
Phase 2: Foam Prototyping & Manual Refinement (10–12 days)
-
Creating a 1:1 foam prototype to meticulously refine the curves of the ears, trunk angle, and paw details to ensure the “youthful/cute” tone is locked in.
-
-
Phase 3: Fiberglass Casting & Layered Hand-Polishing (10–12 days)
-
Casting the heavy-duty fiberglass shell over an internal reinforced steel chassis, followed by seamless surface grinding.
-
-
Phase 4: Dual-Texture Painting & Anti-Scratch Coating (7–10 days)
-
Applying the high-gloss automotive baking paint on the body, hand-painting the matte details on the cheeks/paws, and executing the scratch-resistant red finish on the base.
-
-
Phase 5: Heavy-Duty Packaging & Shipping (3–5 days)
-
Protective foam wrapping and crate packaging in export-grade shockproof wooden cases for transport.
-
3. Dimensions
The dimensions are strategically engineered to perfectly match the human interaction eye-level, leaving ample space for pedestrians to pose and take photos.
-
Total Height: 78.7 inches (approx. 2.0 meters)
-
Estimated Width: 51.2 inches (approx. 1.3 meters)
-
