Design Concept & Inspiration

The design concept for this project draws inspiration from Cool colorful cat character with bold urban colors, graffiti-inspired design, hand-painted gradient finish, durable outdoor coating. Our in-house design team worked closely with the client’s creative directors to develop a character that would resonate with the target audience while complementing the mall’s contemporary architectural style.

The creative process began with extensive mood boarding and concept sketches. Our sculptors studied reference materials and created multiple iterations in 2D before moving to digital 3D modeling. Once the client approved the digital prototype, we proceeded to clay modeling to refine the facial expressions, body proportions, and surface textures by hand. The final design balances artistic expression with commercial appeal, ensuring the sculpture serves both as art and as a functional marketing tool for the venue.

Technical Specifications & Dimensions

Each sculpture was fabricated using premium unsaturated polyester resin reinforced with multiple layers of fiberglass mat. The surface underwent a rigorous 9-stage preparation process including hand sanding, primer application, pinhole filling, and wet sanding before the final color coats were applied by our master painters.

Project Budget & Timeline

The 7 weeks production schedule was meticulously planned to ensure each stage received adequate attention while meeting the client’s grand opening deadline. Key Challenges & Solutions

Challenge 1: Achieving Precision Color Matching. The client specified exact Pantone colors that needed to be matched across multiple sculptures. Variations in resin color and paint absorption rates between different mold sections could cause slight discrepancies.

Solution: Our paint lab created test panels for each color, documented the exact mixing ratios, and applied all paint in a single batch under controlled temperature and humidity conditions. Each completed piece was compared side by side under standardized lighting for final approval.

Challenge 2: Structural Integrity for Indoor Public Spaces. As the sculptures would be placed in high-traffic mall areas with children potentially touching and climbing on them, safety and durability were paramount concerns.

Solution: We reinforced the internal steel armature to exceed standard load requirements, added anti-tip weighted bases, and applied extra-thick gel coat layers at stress points. All edges were rounded and smoothed to eliminate sharp corners.

Challenge 3: Transportation and On-Site Installation. The sculptures needed to be transported from our factory in Huizhou to Shanghai and installed in a busy operating mall without disrupting shoppers.

Solution: Each sculpture was custom-crated with foam padding and shock indicators. We coordinated overnight deliveries and scheduled installation during off-hours (11 PM to 6 AM). Our installation team completed the entire setup in two nights, including anchoring and final touch-up painting.
